Description
St. Joseph’s commitment to serving the community dates back to 1913 when the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto came to the Comox Valley and established their first hospital in Western Canada, a four-bedroom farmhouse.
Today, The Views at St. Joseph’s, a long-term care community, is owned and operated by Providence Living, a faith-based, non-profit health care organization established by Providence Health Care to redefine the collective expectation of seniors’ care in British Columbia.
The Views at St. Joseph’s upholds the tradition of community service set by the founding sisters, and furthers their legacy of providing compassionate care to seniors while valuing the dignity and meeting the unique needs of each person.
Setting a new benchmark for long-term care | Providence Living at The Views
Providence Living is developing a 156-bed long-term care community on a 14-acre site in the Town of Comox. Beds in the new care village, to be known as Providence Living at The Views, will replace those currently located at The Views at St. Joseph’s. This is set to open in the summer of 2024.
Using the concepts of a dementia village, our vision includes smaller households that support freedom to choose, move and connect. Our innovative
village design will also improve residents’ access to nature and interaction with the community, including fostering of intergenerational connections.
A new kind of social-relational care in the Comox Valley
Care provided at Providence Living at The Views will follow the small scale household model and allow for a personalized, resident-driven style of care that we’re calling Home for Us.
